  1. Assume that you will be out of work a lot longer than you think. I was out of work for 13 months. I never thought it would be that long, so I didn\’t cut back on things as much as I should have. If I\’d spent a couple grand from my severance pay on bulk food storage items, I\’d have been in a lot better shape.Networking works only if that\’s something you are good at. I joined Toastmasters, took community college classes, tried everything I could think of. None of that worked. So your mileage may vary.
